New Beginnings

A few weeks ago I was extended a bid to become a founding member of the Alpha Pi chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi at Florida State University. It was not something I had ever imagined being a part of with absolutely no desire to join Greek Life over the past two years. But there was something about the idea of being a founding member of the re-installation of AOII at FSU that I found to be intriguing and quite exciting! I missed my first opportunity to join at the beginning of the semester because I was so unsure of Greek Life and scared to take the first step. After the school year had began one of my roommates had joined AOII and a couple months later she informed me that they were doing Continuous Open Bidding (COB). Long story short- after a couple of interviews I was extended a bid! Me and 10-15 other newbies (COB recruits) had to catch up on the learning all of history and information about Alpha Omicron Pi to be initiated as a founding member.

After a couple weeks of back-to-back meetings, me and the other 215 girls were initiated this past weekend! We had Initiation Sunday morning and then the Rose Banquet later that evening to celebrate and sign the official Charter!

Morgan, our Educational Leadership Consultant who played a major role in the installation of AOII! She is an incredible woman and has the sweetest southern personality! :)

Free Country concerts are the best! I LOVE FSU!! <333

And last but not least, HAPPY VETERANS DAY! Yesterday I attended the Student Veteran Film Festival at FSU which was an awesome experience! We got to watch the documentary Which Way Is The Front Line From Here? The Life and Time of Tim Hetherington. The director himself, Sebastian Junger was also there for the screening and a panel discussion at the end. It was an incredible film that everyone should see! It truly was inspiring and a great way to spend Veteran's Day. In the picture above is us with Student Veteran, Ryan Taylor. Thanks to all who have served and continue to serve.

God Bless America.

Love,
LST
